These tests just examined a few possible biases. For this question: Write about a DIFFERENT bias(es) that you have that influences your daily life/communication 1) What "type"/group of people (that you didn't take a test about) are you biased against/toward? 2) What do you do/say as a result of this bias? Be specific! (Give an example of how you BEHAVE, what you say and/or do--not just what you think!) I'm looking for at least a few paragraphs here. EXAMPLE I have one bias that is such a terrible bias to have considering that I work in the beauty industry! I tend to put people (especially women) in categories of "high maintenance" or "low maintenance" and have a bias against "high maintenance" people. I look at women who love makeup and style their hair and do their nails and wear real bras and any type of heels and who generally put a good amount of work into the way they look and I just kind of mentally shut down and think that there's no way we have things in common and that I don't want to have a conversation with them, let alone become friends. As a result of that assumption I don't talk with these women if I can at all avoid them. And when I do have to talk to them, I'm more guarded and don't share as easily, or probably even smile as much. I am sort of trying to "get through" the interaction instead of trying to enjoy or connect with them the way I would a less high maintenance woman. Your answer Weight ('Fat - Thin' IAT): no automatic preference between Fat people and Thin people. Transgender ('Transgender People - Cisgender People' IAT): weak automatic preference for Cisgender People over Transgender People. Disability ('Physically Disabled - Physically Abled' IAT): no automatic prefrence between Physically Disabled People and Physically Abled People. Age ("Young - Old' IAT): slight automatic preference for Young people over Old people. Sexuality ('Gay - Straight' IAT): moderate automatic preference for Straight people over Gay people.
