They saw people from very diverse backgrounds achieving certificates and diplomas in viticulture-accredited trade qualifications. They had a range of people who started with level 1 certification progressing through to level 4 and were then undertaking a degree. They had also linked these educational achievements to pay increases. Great Taste Winery now invests thousands of dollars a year in staff education and has a number of employees on the traineeship programme. Both management and employees saw positive outcomes as a result of the fact that they now have a large vineyard of enthusiastic and happy employees (both skilled and semi-skilled). For employees, the additional knowledge and the skills they gained from the training programmes have enhanced their mental wellbeing and given them the determination and hunger to continue to increase their knowledge.
