Apple denied doing this so consumers would have to upgrade their phones but eventually the consumer had no other choice but to buy another. It was said that the sales of Iphones increased drastically during this time. Apple denied any wrong doing and continued trying to hide it from the public. Eventually, in December 2017, Apple did admit to the battery slowdowns aimed at addressing the device shut down problem, leading the company to issue a rare apology (Allyn, 2020). Apple agreed to pay up to $500 million to settle claims of intentionally slowing down older phones.
