Think of a decision that you make within your organization (as an SME) and pretend that you need to present it, including other options to the CEO before you make it. Make an outline of how you would present it. You may be faced with this within your career as having a manager who does not know the ins and outs of your work is prevalent not just for coders, for example, the CFO (who is often a CPA) does not report to another CPA, the head of IT does not report to any other IT person but maybe the COO, a shop foreman reports to the business owner, not another foreman, and so on.
