This adds another complication in the criminal justice system because in order to get the confession that interrogators need sometimes, they bend the truth. For example, in Chicago some years ago the Chicago tribune conducted an investigation on the Chicago police (Polygraph Tests Contribute to False Confessions in Chicago, 2013). When they noticed that Chicago police has been conducting lie detector tests and not adhered of complied to the standards put in place while conducting these sorts of tests, which led to many wrongful convictions (Polygraph Tests Contribute to False Confessions in Chicago, 2013). The police polygraph examiners would lie to the suspect and notify them that they had failed the lie detector test and this way manipulate a false confession out of them (Polygraph Tests Contribute to False Confessions in Chicago, 2013). This shows in a way how the validity of the polygraph test is not a bulletproof method and that it indeed can be questioned on how valid it is and if it can stand in court.
