This article discusses the relationship between transformational leadership, servant leadership, and their effect on customer service using implicit leadership theories (ILT). Implicit leadership theories are related to the person's expectations and understanding of what effective leadership is. The article discussed the different views (from the employees using ILTs) on how transformational leadership could lower customer satisfaction depending on the perception of the leader. For servant leadership, the article stated, "studies have revealed that servant leadership's impact on performance exceeds that of transformational leadership impact on performance." (Shi & Zhou, 2023).

There were several different hypotheses (6 total) using different ratings and rankings, but most hypotheses concluded that when combining a mixture of transformational and servant leadership together, customer satisfaction was improved compared to using one leadership style.

After researching several different articles, I chose this article because of the comparison between the two different leadership styles and their effect on customer satisfaction (I deal with customer satisfaction daily). The other reason was during the Week 2 discussion, there were several posts regarding servant leadership and how that leadership style was very effective in business.

What I learned from this article compared to what I researched so far is that there are many different aspects to a leadership style and that the definitions given are not as clear as what I thought. There are many different aspects to each leadership style and now understanding that an individual's perception of the leader can easily affect how they see that leadership style.
