This assignment has the following objectives: 1. To experience how knowledge obtained in Biology class is applied to real life issues. 2. To help the community Requirements: This assignment is to be done individually. Each student will dedicate up to 3 hours or more as a volunteer in the community. The community project has to be related to topics covered in our class. Suggestions of projects: o Be a volunteer judge for a school's science fair o Local parks or conservation areas, museums (for example: Boyd Hill NP, Sawgrass Lake Park, Weedon Island, Clearwater Marine Aquarium, and South Florida Museum) o Participate on beach clean ups; volunteer in ecological restoration projects (possibilities: Tampa Bay Watch, Tampa Bay Aquatic Preserves) o Animal shelters; Food pantry Hospitals, clinics, etc. Procedure: 1. Find the place where you want to volunteer and choose a project. Obtain documentation that you volunteered there. You can work in different organizations/projects in order to get the total amount of hours needed. The documentation should have the following: Name of Organization Name, title, email address and phone number of contact for the organization Dates and hours worked Project worked 2.
