This assignment is about your relationship with the underground economy. Most of us have done informal work, worked off the books, or participated in the underground economy at one point or another--maybe you are doing it now. For many, the underground economy serves as a safety net. Draw on those experiences to describe the differences between informal and formal work; in terms of pay, workers' rights, job satisfaction and anything else you can think of that is relevant. Why is/was the work informal? Your choice or an employer's? Was/is it a primary source of income or an additional one? (If you have zero experience as a worker, you can interview someone who does, for this part.) In addition, describe the ways in which you use goods/services from the underground economy. Why do you use them? What do they offer that the formal economy doesn't?
