 Japan is excluded from your selection of a foreign country. Countries which are risky for operating businesses as usual for reasons should be excluded as well.

 The foreign company needs to be a non-Japanese company overseas, non-foreign company overseas, and must be a local company in the foreign country. *You need to check the companys business history for confirmation

.  The foreign company is regarded as a local competitor in your proposed international marketing plan in later tasks. It thus needs to be capable of competing with your selected Japanese company and its specific brand of product/service in some ways. For example, it can be one of the top players in your target market(s) in this foreign country.

 The selection of the foreign companys brand of product/service needs to be in the same industry such as the beverage industry, the service industry, the sports industry, and in the same product category such as soft drink product, airlines service product, rugby teams with the selected Japanese companys brand. For example, Asahi Breweries (Japan) and Heineken (the Netherlands) are in the same breweries industry and the product of beers.
