Learn How to work as a groupLinks to an external site. Students will work in groups (3-4 members) to research what is next for the county. Learn how to find your group by clicking hereDownload clicking here. Keys to this assignment: Groups will market the county as a destination through the development of an ideal county. Do additional research on tourism, economic development, and the other towns and sites in the county and state. Be innovative and creative in the development of the ideal county. Create a sense of distinction, not duplication. Remember: tourists, businesses, and new residents must have a reason to go to the town. Consider what is realistic and possible for the county to accomplish the goal of increased tax revenue without increasing tax rates. Be realistic. The budget does not allow for the purchase of a building nor will it start a company. Large companies will not move their headquarters to the county. The required elements Work in groups (3-4 members) to research what is to be done. Provide an introductory paragraph. List and briefly explain six promising options to be considered for future actions. Reasonable and possible are the guides for the options. Identify the three most promising endeavors that should be pursued. These are to be attractive to people (tourists, business people, and potential residents) outside the county. Revenue can be generated by tourism, increased employment, or increased business activity. What will people pay money for which will then increase tax revenue? Identify three distinct stages of activities to draw these people to the county. You must identify the activities which will occur in each of the three stages. For the first stage the budget is $10,000 for all expenses; the second stage, the budget is $15,000 for all expenses; and the third stage budget is $25,000 for all expenses. Do not replicate actions and activities from one stage to another (you can't have a bigger festival). You must add to the activities. For the second and third stages, you do not have to budget for the previous activities, just the new activities. Note: while the word activities is used, the group may elect to have one activity. What group(s) will come first, second, and third, where are they currently, why do they want to come to this town, what is their income, and what other relevant demographic and psychographic factors are important? Factual evidence of research (this means numbers) is to be included in the report. Cite sources in the report. List the itemized expenses and provide evidence of research. Don't forget labor expenses! You may submit the expenses in an Excel document. Do not replicate actions and activities from one stage to another (you can't have a bigger festival). You must add to the activities. For the second and third stages, you do not have to budget for the previous activities, just the newest activities. Include an MLA-formatted annotated bibliography with a minimum of 5 resources. Annotations must include a summary of the credentials of the author and publication, the useful information gleaned from the source, and an explanation of how the information was used in the assignment.
