This assignment will require students to perform a financial analysis of the selected companies (two companies main and comparative) from the Singapore Stock Exchange for the year 2020 to 2021. OCBC and UOB

Criteria of a comparative company:

(i) A company of the same industry; and

(ii) Total assets/equity is approximately in similar range.

The analysis will consist of ratios, common size statements, and percentage change statements. Financial statements will include statement of financial position, statement of profit or loss, and statement of cash flow. All calculations are to be done using Excel and the quantified information presented in spreadsheet format.

  1. Select the financial statements and calculation done in a spreadsheet.
  2. From the statements that have been prepared, compute a minimum of ten (10) ratios ensuring each category of ratios is covered.
  3. Based on these ratio values, perform a trend analysis for the last 2 years.
  4. Prepare common size statements for the three most recent years (2019- 2021).
  5. Prepare percentage change statements for the last two years by using the three years data for the statement of financial position and the income statement data. (Not required for Statement of Cash Flows).
