This essay is a chance for you to explore all the options within law enforcement/border services/private security etc. available to you upon graduation from the program.

Part 1:

You are to research 2employment possibilities that interest you and include in your essay a description of the individual requirements for each service's hiring process. Explain fully the qualifications you must have, the tests you must pass, and which interviews you should expect to have for each service.Be thorough and precise in your investigation and reporting. Feel free to choose from federal, provincial, or municipal services and explore different positionsfrom across the entire spectrum of security agencies. Do not simply choose the same position from two different municipal police services and do not simply choose two positions from the same service. There must be a distinct difference between the two positions. If you are interested in a higher-level position, you must outline the process completely from the beginning as a recruit/applicant. .........15 marks

Part 2:

For the organization that you would most like to work for, make a plan that might result in your successful employment with that service. Be self-reflective, what do you personally need to attend to in order to make yourself the best possible candidate for the job? How can you make yourself stand out from all the other applicants? What can you do to enhance your resume? Describe in detail, the path that you will take to make yourself a number one choice. What specific measurable skills do you have or need that the next candidate might lack? What job/ life experience do you have or need to be hired? Why should your chosen service hire you over someone else? If you have already started on that path and have some of the qualifications or skills required, list them as well.

Part 3:

With respect to the organization that you would most like to work for, tell us why this is the one for you. Be specific as to your reasoning. What 5 things attracted you to this particular service? Why do you find each item attractive or important? One mark will be given for the particular reason you chose the service, and one mark will be given for explaining why it is important to you.
