(SAL ) and has five manufacturing plants. The firm has chosen to implement a new software system for inventory and production management across all locations. Each location formerly had its own inventory and production management software. Ms Grace Lyon is in charge of deploying the new system as the head of IT at SAL. She thinks that the project will take two years to complete. The company has chosen to establish a "Project Implementation Team." Ms Grace will lead the team, consisting of two members from each production facility. Ms Grace anticipates that the team members will be either production or IT engineers with extensive expertise. However, each facility is free to choose its own people for the project team. At the site level, there has been some opposition to the new system. For instance, one criticism was, "if it's not broken, why fix it?" Employees are also concerned that the new software would lead to the centralization of the company and an increase in head office management. SAL has bought tools for virtual team communication and cooperation to enhance teamwork. In addition to their participation on the project team, each member will maintain their current position.
