This is a little older, but I find it to be really interesting. We don't often think about the long supply chain that is responsible for supplying us with the things we by in the store. A simple good like a t-shirt, makes a long and complicated journey from the cotton fields and other raw materials to the finished product you buy at a department store or from an online retailer. The label may say "made in China" (or Vietnam, Bangladesh, Tunisia etc), but the truth is a large number of countries were likely involved in producing and shipping the materials that became the shirt.
To understand this, the reporters from Planet Money decided to make a t-shirt and follow it through the supply chain. Watch the videos - it looks like a lot - but they are short.
The whole thing is less than 20 minutes total. Afterwards, comment on what you found most interesting or surprising. Who is trading benefiting? Are the benefits widely shared?
