Writing your project report
The report should be 5 to 10 pages long (up to 3,000 words). Pictures and any annexes are extra. Please follow the following guideline:
1. Your report should include the introduction, body, and conclusion clearly. You should create a sub-heading to elaborate the "body" of the report visibly ("body" itself is not a sub-heading). You may develop your report using the sub-headings listed in the "PowerPoint Presentation Template" file.
2. Your report should be typewritten as an editable Word document with minimum 10-point Times-New-Roman font, double-spaced, 1" margins on all sides in A4/Letter paper size, and page numbered. You can use the "spelling and grammar" tool to correct typing errors.
3. You can also include pictures and diagrams that are taken while executing your project or as appropriate from other resources.
4. For citation and references, ASA or other styles consistently. A list of references at the end of the report is required!
5. Use your creative and innovative thoughts and skills to write and finalize your report. Hence, this rubric is brief.
ORIGINAL PROJECT BELOW
Main Focus:
Strengthening local communities by initiating self-reliable projects and availing free education for all public schools with the aim of eradicating poverty and high rate of illiteracy.
Introduction
Eradicating poverty is important to achieving the need to alleviate it, government or private organizations should provide work for those who are within and below the poverty level. Providing closely monitored job performance, if this is implemented, the people that are affected by poverty will have the right way to generate income or a way to self-sustain their needs. Government schools should be free, and some basic needs such as stationery should also be provided for the people who are poor. Also, the government should lend money to people who have clear business proposals but lack capital, if this is put in place then people below the poverty line will not necessarily depend on what the government has to offer.
Objectives
After the project successfully completes its entire phase of six months then the level of poverty is expected to go down, the lending Program has to be closely monitored by helping the people who borrow money to run businesses. This can be achieved by ensuring that capital is not lost. Also, people who are given jobs through this program must be clearly coached in order for them to be able to maintain their jobs while they are fully productive.
The illiteracy level will go down for most people to stay illiterate because they can't afford to pay for school. If the government provides free education, then poor families will have access to education.
Approach
In working with the communities, we will aim to empower communities at the grassroots to be responsible for their development agenda. We will support communities by helping them work on their own and know their own challenges and as a result, come up with their own plans to address their own community felt needs.
We will partner with communities through Community based organizations or Non-Profit Organizations and other local groups to identify sustainable solutions to local development. Our development model is based on participatory methodologies and capacity development, which empower communities to define and deliver their own development agenda.
This approach ensures achievable and sustainable community action plans are developed and with our support implemented.
Our organization will also work with other Non-profit organizations World Literacy Program an independent not-for-profit charitable body, founded in Australia in 2003, to acknowledge education as a basic human right, and believe that literacy unlocks the door to a life of learning. Higher literacy levels enable people to overcome the barriers of poverty, and disease and fulfill their potential.
Budget
The Detailed Description of each budget line is as follows:
Rent $84,000 for premises ($700 X 12)
Local/Regional consultants = $3,000 per month
600 per month) x (Five communities)
Staff Travel ($100,000)
Organizing, coordinating, and the training workshops
($1,000 per person) x (12 persons) = $12,000
Seminars and Workshops ($200,000)
workshops in the specified regions ($1,000 per participant) x (20 participants)
Office Supplies $3,000 per month
Total = $402,000
Scope
Our significance is to be able to initiate small financial projects that will help the local community to be able to self-sustain itself financially. If this is realized then, the poverty level will drastically drop which in turn will boost the number of people who will be able to send their children to school. Poverty reduced will mean less illiteracy which will slowly and steadily kill poverty.
Management
The entire project will be subject to weekly reports and evaluations. The stakeholders will get regular updates. Every problem we run into will not be hidden or downplayed.
There will be weekly meetings in order not to be diverted from critical activities to side paths. Clear meeting agendas will be in place which will be structured around team members.
