This is a two-part project.
By looking at a broader framework of an organization's environment, specifically its culture, educational leaders can better understand difficult problems within an educational institution. By examining a school culture, educational leaders will be better equipped to shape the values and attitudes necessary to support improvements in their learning environment.
In this scenario, your PreK-12 team has already completed an external scan; an internal scan; a strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis; and a strategic plan. These completed steps have indicated a need for cultural change as a part of the institution's organizational development.
Part 1
You are to describe the existing culture of an institution and any problems within the institution caused by its culture. Select 1 of the following change agent models to create intervention that will effectively shape the values and attitudes of those professionals within the institution to better meet the needs of the institution and connect with its strategic plan:
- Hall and Hord (1987): Concerns-based adoption model (CBAM)
- Zaltman and Duncan (1977): Strategies for planned change
- Reigeluth and Garfinkle (1994): Systemic change in education
- Fullan and Stieglebauer (1991): The change agent
- Havelock and Zlotolow (1995): The change agent's guide
- Ely (1990): The change environment
In addition, link your response to the affective domain and the ways in which changes and interventions can be associated with and assessed by using that taxonomy.
Part 2
Create professional communication and public relations plan to share your chosen intervention strategy with the various stakeholders (both internal and external) for your selected institution. Include the following:
- The messaging that will be conveyed to each stakeholder group
- The rationale for differences or similarities of the messaging for stakeholder groups
- A time line for communications for each stakeholder group
- Specific communications and public relations methods and channels that you intend to use
- Considerations taken to address communication diversity, equity, and inclusion
