This is an individual piece of coursework which is worth 100% of the total grade for the module. In this assignment, I am required to study a real-world operation, assess how well it is designed and managed and offer recommendations for its improvement. I have to write a report which addresses the three parts listed below under. I have to select one 'operation' of any type - this could be within manufacturing or services; on Greggs. Part 1: Introduction to the operation and analysis of its key characteristics Briefly introduce the operation. Then, provide an analysis of the operation in terms of: a) the transformation process (i.e., transformed resources, transforming resources, and type(s) of transformation taking place). b) Use the volume/variety spectrum to describe the design and improvement of the process for this operation. c) Considering the operation's competitive priorities, discuss how is this operation making decisions on its performance objectives. Part 2: Evaluation of the design and management of the operation Building on the above analysis, use appropriate concepts and tools/techniques to assess how well the operation is designed and managed in two separate topic areas.

Choose two topics among the following three areas: 1) capacity and inventory management; 2) supply chain management; 3) lean operations.

Need to draw on credible sources of evidence (i.e. primary and /or secondary data) to back up your analysis and assessment in this part. Explain both the challenges and emerging opportunities that the operation has in the selected topic areas.

Part 3: Improvement of the operation Choose one of the following two topics to discuss in your report, and then summarize your discussion. a) Analyse how the Russian-Ukriane war has influenced, or any potential regional military conflict that will influence the operation (concerning Part 1 and 2). b) Analyse how potential future technology or societal development will influence the performance of the operation (concerning Part 1 and 2). If you choose this topic, please first make a clear statement of the specific technology or societal development. For example, you have selected an automobile company, and in Part 3, you wish to talk about the depletion of fossil fuels. Do not try to discuss a general "science-fiction vision" of the company. Submission requirements The assignment should not exceed 2,000 words in length. This word count limit excludes figures, tables, references and any appendices used.
