This is an open-book (class content) integrative/synthesis essay for each of the 3 integrative, short essay questions and answers of 300 words or fewer. You pick only the 3 of the four offered questions you want to do.It will be an integrative/synthesis essay exam covering the lectures and all the required readings and videos on ELMS fromINST 355or Project Management through/including Leadership. Questions will ask you to apply concepts and theories from theINST 355course to real-world or fiction examples. Please read the instructions and questions carefully, ensuring you answer each element in thethree questionsyou select.Be sure to include the prompt of the questions that you choose to respond.

Be sure to answer questions thoroughly, accurately, and using your own words. Notations like 2b indicate different parts of the question you are expected to respond to. Quotes should be used sparingly;if you use more than one quote per question, you will get .1 points taken off per question.

You should refer to class readings (in the correct textbook) or lectures fromINST 355 ORProject Management through Leadership course, and please only use your ideas fromsomewherein the course materials. Do not use Google or online sources.

Guidelines:

You pickthreeessay questions among four of below;

Citations:You don't need a full APA reference list for this, but you should include page/slide numbers for any quotes. You can cite the book, slides, and readings on ELMS. But,use your own words as much as possible,rather than direct quotes;

Don't Google for answers:use information from the readings and the lectures from Project Management, including Leadershipfrom the INST 355 course.

Please choose 3 of these 4 questions:

1 Motivation/Leadership/Communication:

The Joker is a famous villain who is known for killing his subordinates. His minions (subordinates), understandably, have low job satisfaction. He has asked you to advise him on increasing job satisfaction. Using at least one motivation theory (a well-supported one, so not the Maslow Hierarchy) and at least one leadership theory, how would you advise the Joker? To get full credit for this answer, explain clearly, in your own words:

(1) the motivation theory--what does it say, how does it suggest motivation works;

(2) the leadership theory--what does it say, how does it suggest good Leadership would work; and

(3) explain at least two concrete, specific suggestions: (3a) one for how he would implement the motivation theory, and (3b) one for the leadership theory.

Finally (4a) define and (4b) apply one communication barrier that might be relevant to this situation: the Joker to his subordinates, his subordinates to him, or you to the Joker. Define it in the abstract and then explain how it would look in this context.

2 Goals/Control:

LaNee creates beautiful ceramic bowls and sells them on Etsy. She realizes that good business practices involve having goals, objectives, and controls.

(1) What is one realistic and achievable key mission goal she should have for the next year (now through March 2025)?

(2) How would she then translate this goal into (2a) an objective and then, separately, (2b) at least one matched metric for that objective?

Finally, (3a) identify a specific control process/procedure from the lecture or book, and then (3b) explain the steps of the procedure that LaNee could use to track her progress and ensure quality control for her product.

3 Project Management:

You have been given as much money as you need to create a software application to track water intake, particularly for older people or athletes who need to drink more. The requirements and constraints are well-defined early in the process. (As usual) using information you learned in lecture and the readings:

(1) Describe and fully definethree constraint types(1a, 1b, 1c)and (2) what they would end up being for this particular project (2a, 2b, 2c).

Then, (3a) define what a dependency is, and (3b) explainone specific dependencyyou have to take into account for this particular project and why it is a dependency.

Then, (4a) state which developmental approach you would use, predictive/waterfall or adaptive/Agile, and (4b) why (tie the approach specifically to the application).

4 Personality/Negotiation/Conflict:

Abby, Golnoush, Pei-Yuan, Dan, and Rahul are in INST335 and on a team together. They are having a disagreement about whether they should submit a full length draft or a partial draft on April 21, but do not have any disagreement on the content of the paper or the project itself. Rahul wants them to submit a full draft, but Dan only has time to work on a partial draft.

(1) What type of conflict is this, of the three main types of conflict? (as taught in this class)

They decide to negotiate.

(2a) Choose one type of negotiation, distributed or integrative, and (2b) explain how they could negotiate in a way that resolves their conflict. In your answer, show you understand the difference between the distributed and integrative negotiation.

What kind of individual differences/personality traits would be helpful in working together on this project for group performance success and cohesion? Using information from the book and the lecture (and not the MBTI, for obvious reasons), please:

  • Define and describetwo(3a and 3b) personality traits or individual differences from the Bauer et al. chapter 3 and the paired lecture and
  • Whywould each of these(4a and 4b) be useful for working together on this project based on the empirical literature?
