this is difficult for me since I came from a different country and English is not my first language. As some of you who is an immigrant like me may be able to understand the struggle of what I go through everyday, whether at home, school or workplace. Language barrier is no joke, it kept me from having friends or wanting to have friends because I do not want to be misunderstood nor misunderstood anyone.

Out of UK idioms, I have chosen, "In bad odour" I would translate this idiom to be relating about an odor, particularly a bad odor. My 6 years in the United States, I learned a few idioms but since this one is from UK, I am so not familiar. After reading the meaning of the idiom I have chosen, I realized I may not be too far off, or maybe I am.

The US idiom "go against the grain" to me means, think outside the box or go against the usual plan or routine. After I made my own assumption about the said idiom, I looked it up and I am somewhat surprised seeing that I am on point on it. Another US idiom I am sure I do not know nor understand but will still try to is "go to pot" this one is hard, cooking is what comes to mind. I mostly take words as what they are and not their hidden meanings. But idioms are fun and I would love to learn more. But idioms can be a problem too, one culture can take things the wrong way while the other is merely just innocently making a conversation. need a rebuttal and any references if there is any.
