This is for a social work class

Why should social workers advocate for the use of assistance other than in-kind benefits? What types of benefits would you advocate for the oppressed group you researched in the first discussion in Week 1?

The social problem that I chose that is affecting an oppressed population is the LGBTQ+ community. I would like to learn more about this in regards to rights, health care, same-sex marriage, discrimination, and equal access to social services.
