Part A1: THIS IS THE SAME FIRST SECTION OF PART A ASSIGNMENT Identify a topic for the assignment. This can be the students current place of work or a company researched by the student. Often the best topic to choose is one that happened during an organizational / individual change as leadership is most pronounced during that time. Please identify to the instructor your topic.

Part A2: THIS IS THE SAME FIRST SECTION OF PART A Present all the facts relevant to the topic in enough detail to allow the instructor to understand and grade your work. Identify fact from opinion. Student may extrapolate additional facts from their past work experiences to demonstrate competency in each of the content areas. Remember to examine the facts of the situation from the point of view of the employees, supervisor/management, and organization (senior leadership/Human Resources)

Part A3: THIS IS THE SAME FIRST SECTION OF PART A ASSIGNMENT The first content area is leadership theory and processes. Identify all applicable theory along with discussing the facts of the situation. This section will demonstrate your application knowledge of the theory as well as critical analysis and thinking.

Part B4: The second content area is the impact of leadership on team processes. Identify all applicable theory along with discussing the facts of the situation. This section will demonstrate your application knowledge of the theory as well as critical analysis and thinking.

Part B5: The third content area is organizational and management processes. Identify all applicable theory along with discussing the facts of the situation. This section will demonstrate your application knowledge of the theory as well as critical analysis and thinking.

Part B6: The concluding section should be a statement of the most interesting or important take-away you have from this class.

Memorandum Composition

  • First section: Identify the context for the memo - what is the context related to and what is the reason (issue) giving rise to the memo. Be clear and concise. When the reader finishes the first section / paragraph, they know what you are going to address and what the potential issue / problem is within the memo.

  • Second section: Clearly identify all the facts, both supportive and contrary, to the reason for the memo. This should be factual and agreed upon by reasonable people and supported by references as needed. Be sure to identify all facts whether they support your position or not. At the end of this section the reader should understand the context of the situation and the facts.

    • If references to outside sources are used, please add a separate reference page. Please do NOT use outside information without a reference, or points will be deducted.

  • Third section: Discuss the problem and issue with complete thoughts and make sure you present a balanced approach. At the end of this section, the reader should understand the problem/issue and all the possible alternatives and potential problems.

  • Fourth section: Make your recommendations including specific actions, more research, and/or additional questions. At the end of this section, the reader should have a clear understanding how you want to proceed.

  • Fifth Section: Close by asking for agreement to take action or proceed as appropriate.
