On June 1 police searched Justin Meyers's apartment under a search warrant for cocaine and paraphilia. When police arrived, they found drugs and scales in the living and kitchen areas. Detective Alonza noticed in Meyer's bedroom a photo of Meyers, Nadine, and three others together hugging in the picture. Nadine Bostick was reported missing two weeks earlier.

Alonza searched Meyer's dresser and closet looking for drugs. Alonza found the bloody handkerchief and place it in a plastic container so he could take it. Alonza in his statement has said that he thought there might be traces of cocaine in it but also, he was suspicious of a bloody rag and the picture of Nadine in Meyer's room. Police asked Mr. Meyer's about the bloody handkerchief while handcuffed before he was read his rights. Mr. Meyers told officers that he did not remember, and it must be a bloody nose.

He was then asked if he knew Nadine and he said she was a friend of a friend. Mr. Meyers was then arrested and read his rights. Mr. Meyers then asked for an attorney. During the car ride to the police station, Mr. Meyers asked the policeman if they had any lead to Nadine's disappearance because he was curious and he hoped she was ok. The officers in the car told him that there were no leads. Mr. Meyers then stated that since all that time has passed didn't the officers think she was dead. The officers said that they hope not. Detective Alonza then told Meyers that Nadine's parents were worried about her and that they deserved to bury her properly.

Mr. Meyers told the police officers that he will look at the Diablo Dam near Cedar point. Detective Alonza then asked why he will look there, and Mr. Meyers said that he will not talk any longer without a lawyer present. Detective Alonza then had a whole team of divers searches the location that Meyers had said, and they found Natalie's body. Police then ran DNA on the handkerchief, and it match Nadine's DNA.
