This is the first of your "aaplication presentations." The purpose of these presentations is to link what you learned in the course a real world event that has occured during or over the last two years. This is to give you the opportunity to apply what you know and help each other study for the mid term by telling interesting stories about intelligence collection.
In this first presentation, link what you learned in the first half of the course to an event. As a reminder, here is a description of the first part of the course from the syllabus:
Part 1: Intelligence Collection. In the first part of the course we will cover the five main intelligence collection disciplines: open source, human, signals, geospatial, and measurement and signature intelligence. Particular attention will be paid to the applications, strengths, and limitations of each discipline. The first part of the course will also briefly address collection platforms, such as satellites and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (drones)
Directions
1. Choose an event that ilustrates a use of intelligence collection that occured in the past two years. It can be a one time event, like a response to an emergency, or an ongoing effort, like supporting the war in Ukraine or trying to understand the national security implications of climate change. There's a universe of events to choose from, so pick something that interests you and for which there is good information about the use of intelligence collection. If you are stuck, try looking here for ideas here https://www.bellingcat.com/. (Bellingcat articles in and of themselves are not enough because all of their work is open source, but often you can search further about an event they cover and find references to other kinds of information.)
