This lesson presented two "rules" for predicting features of the magnetic field due to the flow of electrons in a current-carrying wire. These Left-Hand-Rules (LHR) are used frequently in Physics 30. The "first" rule tells us that if you grasp the wire with your thumb pointing in the direction of electron flow, your fingers "wrap" in the direction of the magnetic field lines. current fingers point down on the front side of the wire The "second" rule tells us that if you wrap your fingers in the direction of the electron flow, your thumb points in the direction of the North-Pole of the magnet. These two rules seem quite separate, but in fact they are directly connected. The first rule is the REASON that the second rule exists! Using diagrams to support your answer, explain how you could create the "second" LHR using the "first" LHR. (4 marks)
