This paper will build off of the example covered in your CLA1. In addition to unfair compensation and unethical manufacturing processes, the company has been cited by consumers and competitors alike, alleging that the company hasnot been truthful in the representation of productsin sales and marketing campaigns. The company has been accused ofmarketing some of its older and outdated products to a lower-income demographic. Internally, some employees have been keenly aware of this unethical practice for the purpose of promoting these products and increasing sales.
When discussing each of the following issues, also consider possible barriers to implementation you may encounter (how would you overcome these):
- If you were the CEO, would you consider revamping your Code of Conduct policies and procedures so that this type of unethical marketing would not occur in practice?
- Secondly, would you consider establishingan employee ethics training program to avoid similar practices from ever occurring again?
- Thirdly, should employees who were involved in promoting unethical behavior in the workplace be terminated immediately (although no ethics training program was ever established prior to this incident)?
