This particular activity is a card game tournament. I place students at 6 different tables, with 4-6 per table. Table 1 is the losers table, while Table 6 is the winners table. After so many hands I have the tables count up who won the most hands and who had the least. The winner of each table moves up to the next table (ie table 1 winner moves to table 2) and the loser of each table moves down to the next table (ie Table 5 loser moves to table 4.) But here is the key, NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO TALK at anytime during the activity. What the groups don't know is that I have given each table a different set of rules. Aces are high at some tables, low at others. Spades are trumps at some tables, hearts at another, and clubs and diamonds at others. One table has no trumps. This becomes increasingly apparent to everyone as people move from table to table.
