This problem requires the use of data from Tables A-2E, 3E, 4E, and 5E for water. 1. Make two figures in MS Excel of the vapor dome of water: -the first one shows the vapor dome boundaries in the p-v diagram (pressure should be shown on the vertical axis and the specific volume on the horizontal axis), and - the second one shows the vapor dome boundaries in the T-v diagram (temperature should be shown on the vertical axis and the specific volume on the horizontal axis). The Excel files must include data you are plotting. You do not have to use all points from the tables, 5-6 data points will suffice for the saturated liquid and vapor branches. Make sure that among those points are points corresponding to T = 400F and p = 500 lbf/in. Learn how to connect the points by solid lines in Excel, but make sure the points are still visible. Example: 2. Add to the p-v diagram a function T(v) = 400F that includes 3 branches: one in the liquid phase (Table A-5E), one in the two-phase mixture (inside the vapor dome, Table 2E), and one in the vapor phase (Table A-4E). Make sure that the data points are visible and connected by a solid line. It is enough to use 2 points per branch in the liquid and liquid-vapor mixture phases, and 3-4 points in the vapor phase. 3. Add to the T-v diagram a function p(v) = 500 lbf/in that includes 3 branches: one in the liquid phase (Table A-5E), one in the two-phase mixture (inside the vapor dome, Table 3E), and one in the vapor phase (Table A-4E). Make sure that the data points are visible and connected by a solid line. It is enough to use 2 points per branch in the liquid and liquid-vapor mixture phases, and 3-4 points in the vapor phase. Notice that lines of constant T and p may grow very rapidly in the liquid phase. To improve the plot quality in the liquid phase, apply the log scale to both axes.
