This question involves you building and configuring a small office network in Packet Tracer. Download the EMA Packet Tracer file TM129_23J_EMA_Qa.pkt from the Assessment page of the TM129 website.
Open the Packet Tracer file and immediately save the file as _TM129_23J_EMA_Qa.pkt where is your Open University Personal Identifier (in the form A1234567). You can find your PI on your StudentHome page. Your file should now be called something like A1234567_TM129_23J_EMA_Qa.pkt.
You do not need to submit your Packet Tracer file. All of the questions require you to provide the answers in your EMA answer document. Please state the version of Packet Tracer you used.
(a) Planning the network addressing scheme (14 marks)
Before cabling and connecting your network devices, you will need to plan your addressing scheme to make sure you have enough addresses available for each device on the network.
You must work out your internal network address according to the last numerical digit of your Personal Identifier (PI). For example, if your PI is X1234567 then the digit to use is 7; if your PI is Y876543B then 3 is the digit to use.
Once you have identified the digit to use, you need to replace the third octet in the IPv4 address 192.168.0.0 with your digit, giving you something like 192.168.7.0 or 192.168.3.0, respectively, for the examples above. You must use a 24-bit subnet mask to accompany your network address.
i.Now that you have identified the digit to use, calculate your network address, the router IP address (which is the first usable host address), the last usable host address and the broadcast address. Show all your working: failing to do so will limit you to half of the available marks.
Hint: you will find the logical AND will help you calculate these addresses.
ii.Populate the following table with the addressing information you have identified using the first usable address for the IP address of the wireless router.
