This unit combines several important aspects of management - perception, values, personality and ethics. Let's take a quick look at how these intersect in companies. Choose two companies you know about (it can be any company - as long as they have a website). Check out the website of the company and look for information about ethics, code of conduct, values, environmentally conscious, etc. Post a link to the company's websites and give your analysis of each company. How effective are the company's 'ethical' messages communicated to their customers? Are there company values discussed? What type of personality does this company look for in their employees? Discuss with your team the purpose of these messages? Are they just there because the company 'thinks' its politically correct to have them there? Is there any evidence that the messages are backed up by action? (A quick note: most major corporations will have what you are looking for - smaller companies may not have it. It's OK to post that a company doesn't have any ethical messages communicated, but I do want you to also post why you think this is so, the pros/cons of not posting any ethical messages and the effect this could have on consumer interest in the company.)
