This week our data sets are a little different. They include two sets of data in each one so that we can find the Linear Regression Equation and discuss if the two variables may be correlated to each other.

Classmates may be making predictions based on the information you provide.

Step 1: Choose one of the following pairs of data sets. Click the randomization button a few times to get your sample. Numbers in the data sets below have been adjusted to be easier to work with. Populations are all in millions (i.e. divided by 1,000,000 so if you see 4.98 it is really 4,980,000). Some of the other data is also reduced in a similar fashion for ease of working with the data for this discussion. See graph below.

Step 2: Provide the title and link to your personalized set of randomized values.

Step 3: What is the correlation coefficient (rounded to 2 decimal places), what does it tell you about your data in terms of your medical situation?

Step 4: Provide the regression equation for your classmate (y=mx+b), be sure to fill in m & b (rounded to 2 decimals), then ask them to predict the dependent variable value for a given value of the independent variable.
