This week you will learn about inferential statistics. One important thing you will learn about inferential statistics is how it's different from descriptive statistics. You might be interested to know that presenters of statistics might not know the difference, nor which type they are presenting. When someone claims their data is statistically significant, they have likely used a certain type of statistics.

Statistical significance means thatthe result observed in a sample is unusual when the null hypothesis is assumed to be true. Furthermore, statistical test provides a p-value, which is the probability of observing results as extreme as those in the data, assuming the results are truly due to chance alone.A p-value of 5% or loweris often considered to be statistically significant.
