This will be focused on the physical, cognitive, and socioemotional changes that occur in early childhood. Please address the following concepts:

• Identify the major patterns of physical development and changes that occur in early childhood and explain the nature of those changes.
• Identify the major brain structures involved in the cognitive changes that occur during early childhood and explain how those cognitive changes manifest themselves.
• Describe one or more stages of development outlined by Erik Erikson specifically during early childhood.
• Describe one or more theories of education relating to the stage of early childhood.

In all four areas identified above, reflect on your own life and the lives of family members to give examples that demonstrate the concepts.
