This year$$s UN climate change meeting is significant as countries are expected to agree on a

new finance target post $2025.$ There is recognition that the finance target needs to be

ambitious in order to meet the scale of need and urgency to address the climate crisis. But

an ambitious finance agreement hangs in the balance as wealthy countries, who are largely

responsible for the climate crisis and therefore under obligation to meet a significant portion

of the finance cost, deprioritise climate amidst claims of shrinking budgets at home.
