Tilly and her ex-husband Lorca were the statutory joint tenants of Discovery, 5,000 square feet of land in Curepe, Trinidad under the Land Tenants (Security of Tenure) Act, Chapter 59:54. They built a small wooden house on the land in 1979. Over the years Tilly replaced this house with a wall structure with hanging ceiling fans, built-in cupboards, and an antique chandelier. Tilly also owned a food stall on Discovery which she constructed in 2014. This was originally a bus, but she removed the wheels and chained the body of the vehicle to concrete blocks. She installed wooden picnic tables with umbrellas near the food stall for the comfort of her customers, and placed large potted palms and other decorative and edible plants into pots around the area. Tilly died in June 2021. In her will, she left her property to her niece Joann. She told Joann that the tenancy belonged to Lorca but that Joann could take "everything which wasn't nailed down" as it was all the fruits of her labour. Advise Joann as to what exactly she can take.
