Tim Green is a Canadian citizen who has always lived in Charlottetown, PEI. He has a spouse and two school-aged children. As of May 2020, he accepts a permanent employment in Denver, Colorado. On October 1, 2020, he moves to Denver to locate housing for his family. In order for his children to finish the school term, his family remains in Charlottetown until January 1, 2021. When they move, Tim severs all residential ties with Canada other than the family home. The home is put up for sale in January 2021.

However, it remains unsold as of December 31, 2021. While Tim was scheduled to begin working in the U.S. in early 2021, he is unable to obtain the required residency documents until July 1, 2021.

Explain Tim’s Canadian residency status for 2020 and 2021.
