Peter Clarendon purchases a bottle of orange juicefrom a local Tim Horton's in Charlottetown and leaves the premises to head to work at a construction site.At mid-morning, he opens the bottle of orange juice andconsumes half the contents.He then notices aslushy sound in the bottom of the orange juice bottlethat is now half consumed.Upon closer inspection, he notices what appears to be verysmall bits of glass floating in the bottom of the orange juice bottle.The exterior of the bottle appears intact; it is the inside of the bottle where small pieces of glass seem to have dislodged from the bottle, or otherwise made their way into the bottle during the bottling process.The bottledoes not appear to have been tampered with.Peter isconcernedthat he may have consumed some of the glass.Later that evening he goes to the bathroom and notices that he isbleedingfrom his bowels.He attends at the emergency room of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and has examinations and x-rays performed.He hassuffered some bleeding of the bowels as a result of consuming glass chards, but the glass appears to have been expelled and there areno long term ill-health effects.
