Time of Use (TOU) tariff scheme offers different tariff rates at different times of a day. The tariff rates during off-peak period will be much lower than Peak Period. Meanwhile, ETOU tariff scheme is introduced as an extension to the TOU tariff. Under this scheme, there will be three (3) time zones for Energy charge with Peak, Mid-Peak and Off-Peak rates.

In Malaysia, TOU and ETOU tariff scheme has been introduced in commercial and industrial customers. If, these tariff schemes are to be introduced in residential sector in Malaysia how this can be carried out and what may be the issues and challenges that we will face.
