TION 4 Nana Yaw is a resident of Nyansakrom, a rural community located in the Ashanti region of Ghana. On the 1" October, 2020 there was massive flooding in the community owing to a heavy downpour which destroyed many properties belonging to some residents. On that fateful day, Nana Yaw was on his way to his farm when he realised that some electrical appliances in the house of one Nana Opoku, such as LCD TV, fridge, microwave oven etc. were being washed away by the flood water. Even though Nana Yaw did not know Nana Opoku who had travelled with his entire family to Accra, he took it upon himself to salvage the properties from destruction. Nana Yaw also arranged for a van to convey the properties to the community centre for safe keeping at an expense of GHS 300.00 to him. In the course of rescuing the items, Nana Yaw also sustained injuries which cost him GHS 500.00 to treat at the community clinic. Upon the return of Nana Opoku to the community, Nana Yaw went to see him and narrated what had transpired, as well as to claim from him the expenses incurred by him in salvaging the items. Nana Opoku however refused to pay for the expenses because according to him he never authorised Nana Yaw to do so. Nana Yaw is aggrieved by the conduct of Nana Opoku and is contemplating taking legal action against him. Advise Nana Yaw as to his legal rights, if any
