To measure, test, and assess the impact of transformational and servant leadership philosophies on employee performance and happiness, and to understand the parallels and discrepancies between these two styles, I will consider the following methodologies and metrics:
Quantitative Methods
Surveys and Questionnaires: Design comprehensive surveys targeting employees across various levels of the organization to gauge their perceptions of leadership styles, their own performance, and their happiness at work. Utilize established scales like the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) for transformational leadership and the Servant Leadership Survey (SLS) to measure leadership styles.
Qualitative Methods
Interviews and Focus Groups: Conduct in-depth interviews and focus groups with employees and leaders to gather nuanced insights into how leadership styles affect their day-to-day work life, morale, and performance. These qualitative insights can provide context to the quantitative data, highlighting specific behaviors and practices of transformational and servant leaders that contribute to positive outcomes.
By combining quantitative and qualitative methods, I can BUILD a holistic view of how transformational and servant leadership philosophies influence not just the workplace environment but also tangible outcomes for employees and clients.
