"To the Fore, funerary cannibalism is an immense expression of love and sacrifice to their deceased loved one (Zunner-Keating 2020). We know that human beings only sacrifice what is valuable to them and, sacrificing one's health is an act of cultural solidarity (Zunner-Keating 2020). In my opinion, the practice is not a maladaptation for the entire community who is committed to showing love during mourning. However, because anthropologists did not examine the beliefs and experiences of enough women (Lindenbaum 2015), I am not prepared to comment on whether the practice is a maladaptation for women. I would need to know if women fully consent to the practice and if they would change their feelings if they had more scientific evidence behind their choices. Overall, more information is necessary to come to a conclusion. What evidence do you, my classmates, think is necessary to advance our understanding of this issue?"
