Today, we are buying more on-line. However, governments (federal and state) are not making money on every transaction on-line. The money made in the local community is not being spent within it to better the economic environment. Now we have shop local Saturday, the first Saturday after thanksgiving. The shop local promotion is to increase spending within the community. This in turn should increase jobs, tax revenue, and vibrancy of the community. Should the market dictate the growth of on-line business? Should government pass laws to get its share of tax dollars from on-line retailers?
