Topic 2:Environmental Groups

Environmental groups have gone through a transformation from the 1960s to the present day, transitioning from organizations founded in grassroots movements using protests and marches to the modern organizations they are today. Environmental groups are now highly structured, have dues-paying members, and are actively involved in the bureaucratic and political process through the filing of litigation or becoming parties to the administrative process. Review the websites of some of these groups below and discuss how adopting formal structures and becoming actively engaged in the process have benefitted these groups and their causes.
