• Topic - 2019 New York Bail Reform Law ( Why is this law noneffective?)
• Introduction- Design it to attract the reader's attention and explain the focus of the research. Provide an overview of the topic, your main points of information, and why this topic is an important and relevant criminal justice issue. Towards the end of the introduction, add your thesis statement, and explain how you will provide information in support of your thesis.
• Thesis statement - A thesis is a declarative sentence that asserts the position your paper will be taking. State your thesis (otherwise referred to as your main idea) and supporting facts/ideas/arguments.
• The Literature Review- This will consist of you explaining how your chosen resources for the term paper relates to your thesis. Your resources should examine the major theories related to the topic. Don't hesitate to use more than 3 resources if it assists you in writing the paper. Do not mistake this with a literature review for a research proposal. Rather, see it as a prologue to the discussion.
• The Discussion- The purpose of this section is to interpret and describe what you learned from your resources while researching your topic. This is your opportunity to demonstrate critical thinking skills. Do not just report the facts that you found in your resources. You should fully explain your main ideas with supporting information and explain why your thesis is correct while acknowledging the counter arguments to your thesis and explaining why your thesis/position is the superior position.
• Conclusion- Provide a summary of your main ideas and restate the paper's main thesis. You may also want to suggest further ideas of study on the topic.
