Following the recent mass murder in Nova Scotia by an active shooter, Prime Minister Trudeaubanned the sale, import and transport of 1500 weapons, including"assault-style" firearms in Canada. There is much debate about whether this decision will result in less innocent people being killed in active shooter situations in Canada. Some have argued that the Prime Minister has over stepped his authority and has violated the rights of Canadian gun owners, despite not having a constitutional second amendment (Right to bear arms) in Canada as the United States has. Yet others believe there is little reason for anyone to own such a weapon and applaud the decision.
