The Experiential Reflective Essay should be about: Most learners report that they gain a lot of insight into the real world of Human Resources Management. They also report that over the period of several weeks, they feel both exhilarated and frustrated at various times. Keeping a journal is a great storehouse of thoughts and feelings about one's learning at a time when they can recall them in more detail. The journal also helps to keep things in perspective enabling a more complete reflection of the entire experience vs. one memorable instance. A journal that has been kept with some discipline also serves as the basis for the Experiential-Reflective Essay that summarizes the individual's learning. More specifically, the Essay is a chance to assimilate the various thoughts, feelings and ideas you had throughout the course and synthesize the individuals learning from them.
Note: The structure of the essay is based on David Kolbs theory of adult learning, which states that a complete learning experience emerges from a four-stage cycle. 5)Part Four: This section focuses on the future, although the individual can write it in the present tense. It should outline how they anticipate using the learning they gained in the course in the future. This might include future jobs, graduate school, or any other setting where they feel the learning applies.
