Topic is 1) Whether mental health is affected by the number of hours worked;

The introduction presents the problem, or issue, that you've identified. You should:

  • State what the issue is.
  • Explain why it is relevant to examine in a research study. You should relate the relevancy of your topic back to the social or medical problem you identified in terms of how it affects people and society.
  • How prevalent/common it is.
  • End the introduction with your thesis statement that indicates what factors you are investigating and a summary statement of the introduction that explains why the identified problem is important.
  • Explain which variables from the GSS database you will be utilizing in the statistical analysis and why the variables are good choices based on the identified problem you researched and discussed in the introduction.
  • State what the null and alternative hypotheses are using:
    1. The actual words that describe the variables, or factors, you are examining.
    2. The mean symbols that respectively correspond to the null and alternative hypotheses.

The introduction in a research study paper is typically the place you will see most citations as you are presenting your argument for the selection of an identified problem that should be examined further. Research must back up the assertions you are making regarding the problem, why it's important to people/society/medical world, etc., and how prevalent the problem is. Thus, you will be required to utilize two sources outside of the text, one of which must be a research article.

  • four- five paragraph summary of text (all bulletumbered points of info from above).
  • A reference page for their 2 sources .

It essentially four paragraph , , that is an introduction to a research study that you will be "doing." Thus, it is your opportunity to tell the reader why the topic you selected is important and worthy of being investigated in a research study. You will be using data that I have taken from the GSS dataset file for this study, you are NOT to collect or do any actual sampling from anyone. You are not allowed to find your own database of information from which to base your study on.

Unfortunately, Excel cannot perform an ANOVA using the course's GSS datafile due to how it is set up. There is a specific format that the data needs to be displayed in so that Excel can do the ANOVA calculations. Due to this fact, I created three separate files for students to use. Unfortunately, it took me about 45 minutes per file to create; it's not an easy process. With that said, I really don't want to limit students to one of these three research topic ideas (the three files I created). I would like to have everyone do what interests them, though, so I am going to give students an option. With that said, I will warn you that most students who do not use one of these three files do the project analysis incorrectly because they don't know how to set it up in the appropriate format for Excel to do an ANOVA analysis.

If you go with an ANOVA, then you must use one of the three files I created. You Choose 1) Whether mental health is affected by the number of hours worked; the file -
