An important issue raised after the financial meltdown in 2008 and the resulting recession has been how to deal with the recession. The economic stimulus policies of cutting taxes and increasing government spending contributed to a very large increase in the federal government's deficit. As a result, the recession moderated, and economic growth replaced the falling gross domestic product (GDP). During this period, a debate began in theUnited Statesthat the size of government had gotten too large and therefore that spending should be cut. Fast forward 12 years later, we are experiencing the exact same thing with the Trump administration. You have the Trump tax cuts of December 2017 which some people claimed favored the rich. And now you have the Coronavirus effects which resulted in the government passing an economic stimulus Bill worth 3 Trillion dollars to relief the strain and stress brought upon Americans. Discuss the positive and normative economic issues presented with these two situations.
