Natalia is a freelance business analyst. A few weeks ago she wrote a piece about Zed PLC for a regional newspaper. Her article stated that the company had just won a lucrative new contract and was looking to expand and that readers who were looking for a safe investment should buy shares in Zed PLC. In fact, Natalia had confused Zed PLC with Sid PLC. Zed PLC is actually not very financially secure. Doreen reads Natalia's article. She recently inherited some money and wants to invest it. On the basis of Natalia's newspaper article, Doreen decides to invest all her inheritance in Zed PLC. Edward is one of Natalia's friends. One night over a drink Edward tells Natalia that he wants to raise the money to buy a house and asks whether Zed PLC would be a good investment. Natalia tells him that, as far as she knows, it is. Edward decides to invest his savings of 15,000 in Zed PLC. Faizal is another business journalist. He says he is interested in Zed PLC and asks Natalia what she knows about them. Natalia emails him her article with the following words added at the end of it: "No liability is accepted for any opinions or information expressed in this document." After reading Natalia's article, Faizal decides to buy 2,000 worth of shares in Zed PLC. Doreen, Edward and Faizal all lose the money they have invested in Zed PLC.
