Kalulushi District Commissioner Stephen Kainga said in an interview yesterday that the company had been directed to stop the construction because it went ahead without waiting for the response from ZEMA over the application to undertake the project. "There is need for an impact assessment (EIA) to be conducted especially that there were complaints from residents of the area over fears of being resettled without compensation," he said. Mr. Kainga said it was important for companies planning to start various projects to engage the surrounding communities and get their views. In October last year Rongxin Investments was ordered to suspend operations after it allegedly polluted part of the Luela stream in Kalulushi. Required: a.
