1. Tsau et al. (A-33) studied urinary epidermal growth factor (EGF) excretion in normal children and those with acute renal failure (ARF). Random urine samples followed by 24-hour urine collection were obtained from 25 children. Subjects ranged in age from 1 month to 15 years. Urinary EGF excretion was expressed as a ratio of urinary EGF to urinary creatinine concentration (EGF/Cr). The authors conclude from their research results that it is reasonable to use random urine tests for monitoring EGF excretion.
